Teachers have access to countless activities and tools, but choosing something simply because it is fun or engaging does not always mean it will support learning.

In this practical workshop, we will look at how to build a communicative ESL lesson that helps students feel more confident using and speaking English. We will explore how different activities can help learners move from becoming familiar with language to using it more independently.

You will look at what learners need at each stage, consider how much support they need, and explore a step-by-step journey through warm-up, practice, production and reflection without treating one sequence as the only “correct” lesson shape.

You will also see a complete communicative lesson built in Wistudi, experience parts of it from the learner side, and consider alternative activities that achieve the same teaching purpose.

Finally, we will look at how the same lesson can move between online and offline teaching, including how interactive activities can be adapted into printable worksheet versions while keeping the learning intention consistent.
